Lost and found

A couple of weeks ago Maisy was grabbing at everything she could reach on the desk. I was getting frustrated with her as I was trying to get something done at the desk so I handed her my ipod and sent her away. Bad decision. Within 30 minutes I went looking for the ipod. Usually she just tosses it on the floor somewhere when she’s done. When I didn’t find it I wasn’t concerned. I figured a more thorough search would produce the ipod. A few days of thorough searching ensued. No ipod. I began to fear that Maisy had thrown it in the trash as she has done with many other things, none of which have been particularly important or valuable. Until now. I tried asking Maisy where my ipod was. She would reply with a question of her own, “i-pa, ere ah woo?” (ipod, where are you?). So everyday I would look in a few new places and ask Maisy if she knew where my ipod was.

Today I asked again. She walked over to the window seat, reached behind it and pulled out my ipod and the baby nail clippers (which were also missing at the hands of Maisy). I swear I looked behind the window seat several times. Has she known they were there all along? Or, worse, has she been moving the missing items from place to place just to drive me crazy? That sounds like the Maisy I know.
